Regarding the statement issued by the public movement "People's Power" about the funding allocated to Georgia by the US over the years.
We would like to respond to the statement issued by the public movement "People's Power" about the funding allocated to Georgia by the United States over the years.
The disinformation narratives spread by the statements of the "four" separated from the Georgian dream are becoming more and more serious and disturbing. The US, the main strategic partner of Georgia, has made a huge contribution to the development of Georgia over the past 30 years: in terms of security, economy, education, democratization, human rights and other strategic directions. The US is a true friend and loyal supporter of Georgia. Such accusations, first of all, harm the interests of Georgia, which is especially dangerous in light of the security challenges in the region.
Also, it's worth noting in these is the attempt to discredit non-governmental organizations, following in the footsteps of the government representatives. It is this purpose that is served by questioning the funds allocated by the USA to help Georgia and referring to non-governmental organizations as American agents. This narrative is often used in the context of authoritarian regimes when evaluating the activities of non-governmental organizations, and such rhetoric from the members of parliament is indeed reprehensible.
We call on the authorities to condemn the disinformational messages of the mentioned statement, because it only serves the goals of Russia, which is hostile to our country and its democratic development, and clearly damages the interests of Georgia, both within the country and on the international arena.
Also, we would like to express our special gratitude to the US government, the US Embassy in Georgia, and the American people for their tireless and steadfast support and friendship.
