Regarding the restriction of rights and unlawful obstruction of activities of CDD Observers
The Center for Development and Democracy's (CDD) observation mission observed the elections in the majoritarian districts of Gori and Kaspi on October 1. Utilizing mobile teams, the mission oversaw the opening and closing of the polling stations and the compilation of results in those areas where the elections employed electronic technologies.
During the monitoring process, the CDD's observers experienced restriction of their rights when the chairman of the Gori District Commission prohibited them from witnessing the reception and categorization of election documentation, inventory, and electronic equipment from the precinct election commissions and the conversion of the election ballots to digital format.
This aforementioned incident hampers the observer's activities and is utterly unacceptable, constituting a severe breach of the norms of the Georgian Election Code, election principles, and Code of Ethics. Given this incident, the Center for Development and Democracy has filed a formal complaint with the Central Election Commission of Georgia.
