Chairman of the Center for Development and Democracy - Kate Chachava participated in the national conference "National Youth Policy Development in Georgia" on 12th of June, 2013, which aims to promote the development of youth policy in Georgia and to inform wider public about the current ongoing events in this area.
Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, in partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund and the United Nations Population Fund, is working to develop the country's youth policy. Among the jobs implemented to this direction is the document of "National Youth Policy" that is approved by the Government of Georgia (the Government Decree № 1608, August 17, 2012).
As a result of the conference the following was planned:
• Wider public will get aware of the need and importance of national youth policy; its directons;
• Society will get aware of the youth role in the ongoing reforms in Georgia, of the position and opinion of various ministries;
• Society will get aware of the process of creating the action plan of the National Youth Policy; its development phases and deadlines;
• individuals involved in the process will be presented;
The conference was attended by the representatives of governmental, non-governmental and international organisations working on the theme of youth policy.
