Central Election Commission Has a New Chairperson

Central Election Commission has a new chairperson. Six commission members chose Tamar Zhvania out of three candidates nominated by the President At the meeting held on September 11.

 

The candidacy of Tamar Zhvania was recommended to the President of Georgia by 14 local observer organizations, among which there is Center of Democracy and recommended the development. The President presented the following candidates: Tamar Zhvania, Manuchar Gamkrelidze and Konstantine Amirejibi on September 9. The voting session held by CEC was secret, in which the members appointed by political parties in CEC participated (with respect to the Election Code – excluding the appointed member of the political party with the highest results in the previous parliamentary elections).
