Meeting with representatives of the SSDA

A meeting of SSDA with the representatives of civil society and political parties organized by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) was held on September 11, at the hotel Radisson Blue Iveria.The meeting was attended by the Chairperson of the Center for Democracy and Kate Chachava the development.

 

Services Development Agency began the active work of local self-government ( 2014 ) elections, the formation of a precise list of voters. In the renewed united list of voters the duality, recordings of deceased persons and other types of errors will be maximally eliminated. SSDA chairperson Mr. Levan Samadashvili presented all the detailed information about the aim of the project, its necessity and importance to the representatives of the non-governmental organizations and political parties.

            

According to the amendments to the Electoral Code, for the local self-governing body – the city council and for the capital of Georgia – Tbilisi’s mayoral elections of 2014, voter registration was assigned to the SSDA. This procedure implicates creating a list with photos.

 

Voter registration will start in December 2013 and will last until May 2014. Registration will be carried out using special registration equipment (portable computer, the signing device, web camera, etc.).

 

For registering voters across the whole country in a number of urban areas, villages and cities the centers will be opened where people can register.
