CDD observed second round of local elections 2014 in 8 self governing communities of Georgia, with 150 observing mission. The mission fully covered election precincts established in exceptional cases (in total 4 special districts – 3 in penitentiary facility and 1 in elderly house).
According to the information provided by observing mission of the organization – polling process went in organized manner, in accordance with international standards all over the country. Consequently the process was assessed positively by the mission.
Observing mission identified certain procedural violations during polling as well as closing of the precincts and vote counting, however they would not influence finale results of the elections.
We would like to highlight that according to our observation the majority of invalid ballots were “vote against everybody”.
The organization echoes to single cases of violence outside of the election precincts covered by media and hope for rapid response from respective institutions.
