The project “Political Schools” Continue

Today, at USAID Center for Civic Engagement opened a project “supporting political parties’ development in the regions, to create competitive political environment”.

 

“Political School” was already successfully completed in Rustavi. The gradual implementation of projects is planned in other regions of Georgia as well: Akhaltsikhe, Telavi, Gori, Qutaisi, Ozurgeti, Zugdidi, Batumi.  Project is open for participants in general elections held during last three years of the 15 political parties (both qualified and non-qualified) of more than 200 regional representatives and activists.

 

The project, meetings will be held every day from 11:00 am - 17:00 period in Akhaltsikhe CCE. Political parties will be introduced to important issues such as the electoral cycle, the election ethics, elections and electoral systems to international standards, minimum standards for democratic operation of political parties, the most important aspects of equality policies (gender, persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities), political campaigns and others.

During the project Schools will pay attention to give accurate information about 27th June 2014 and signed with the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and the visa liberalization process. This issue is very significant and important for regional representatives of political parties. Meetings will be conducted by qualified trainers / experts, who have years of experience in organizing and conducting training for local and international election observation missions in the management and operation of political parties.

 

The project is held by the Center for development and Democracy (CDD), with financial support of "Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training Center" to facilitate the elections, and is aimed to  the political parties and regional officials on long-term development of democratic processes, the improvement of political culture and create competitive political environment.
