The Center for Development and Democracy (CDD) continues to implement the project of “Political Schools”. Since today “Political School” is opened in Adjara Region (Batumi) and it covers the self-governing cities of Guria and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regions. Up to 80 regional representatives and activists of 15 political parties (qualified and unqualified), who have participated in the elections held within last three years, will participate in it.
The meetings in the regions within “Political School” will be held in the Centers for Civic Engagements (CCE-USAID) and will last for several days. The representatives of political parties will be introduces important issues such as the electoral cycle, ethics of elections, international standards of election, electoral system, minimum standards for democratic operation of political parties, the most important aspects of equality policy (gender, persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities), political campaigns and others. Within the “political School” attention will also be paid on spreading the precise information regarding EU-Georgia Association Agreement and Visa Liberalization Process.
Meetings will be led by qualified trainers / experts, who have years of experience working with political parties, organizing and conducting local and international trainings and arranging observing missions at the election.
“Political School” was successfully implemented in the city of Rustavi, Akhaltsikhe and Telavi. Within the project the gradual implementation is planned in the self-governing cities of Imereti and Shida Kartli region.
The project "Supporting Political Parties to be Developed in the Regions to Ensure Competitive Political Environment" is implemented by the Center for Development and Democracy (CDD), with the financial aid of the "Center of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Trainings" in order to ensure democratic processes, improved political culture and competitive political environment by supporting long-term development of the regional representatives of the political parties participating in the elections.
